Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Coordinator to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive exceptional customer service and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen patient calls and medical issues, providing timely and accurate responses to patient inquiries.
  • Register patients for clinical appointments using electronic medical record systems, ensuring seamless scheduling and check-in processes.
  • Monitor in-basket messages, handle routine messages, and forward complex messages to the appropriate resource, maintaining accurate documentation in Epic.
  • Collect time-of-service payments, issue receipts, and prepare end-of-day reconciliations, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Discuss patient charges with patients and/or their families, providing clear and concise explanations of medical billing and insurance processes.
  • Refer patients to the appropriate office for financial counseling, as needed, and maintain familiarity with various types of medical insurance to properly schedule patients.
  • Proactively seek to schedule/reschedule patients for efficient utilization of resources, ensuring optimal patient flow and minimizing wait times.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and insurance coverage to provide informed support to patients and staff.
  • Coordinate visits within the office or between other offices and/or departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Assist with back-office duties as needed, ensuring consistent patient flow and maintaining a high level of productivity.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • One year of work experience in customer service required; two years of related work experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical terminology and knowledge of medical insurance coverage.

Role/Level/Range: ATO 40/E/02/OD
Starting Salary Range: $16.20 - $28.80 HRLY ($19.67-$24.72 HRLY targeted; commensurate with experience)
Employee Group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
