Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Bilingual Mental Health Therapist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will provide high-quality care to our clients, utilizing your expertise in counseling and therapy to support their mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychological evaluations, treatment planning, and implementation for limited English proficiency Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Offer direct clinical care for clients at the time of initial evaluation for diagnostic assessment, urgent, and walk-in care, and triage.
  • Document psychiatric issues and needs identified during counseling sessions.
  • Establish goals and objectives to meet the psychological needs of clients in collaboration with other members of the clinical care team.
  • Conduct short-term therapy, up to 8-12 sessions as deemed clinically appropriate.
  • Assist in providing and/or coordinating the clinical activities of our program clients.
  • Provide client education in all aspects of mental health, including how to cope with issues specific to the migration experience and uses of psychiatric medications.
  • Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve stated goals for enhanced mental health and reduction and abstinence of substance use.
  • Participate in relevant training and multidisciplinary client care.

Requirements

  • Masters' Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of professional experience (post-graduate).
  • Professional licensure by the appropriate licensing board.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), must pass a qualified bilingual staff test administered by our Language Access Services.
  • Knowledge of established diagnostic criteria for substance use and psychiatric disorders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with chronic mental illness, alcohol/substance use disorder, and migrant population experience.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and give exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions and act independently while keeping the investigator informed.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
