We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Therapist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive psychological evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation for limited English proficiency Spanish speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Direct Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive psychological evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation for limited English proficiency Spanish speaking clients virtually or in-person.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document psychiatric issues and needs identified during counseling sessions.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Establish goals and objectives to meet the psychological needs of clients in collaboration with other members of the clinical care team.
- Short-Term Therapy: Conduct short-term therapy, up to 8-12 sessions as deemed clinically appropriate.
- Client Education: Provide client education in all aspects of mental health, including how to cope with issues specific to the migration experience and uses of psychiatric medications.
- Training and Development: Participate in relevant training and multidisciplinary client care.
- Education: Masters' Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Two years of professional experience (post-graduate).
- Licensure: Professional licensure by the appropriate licensing board.
- Language Skills: Bilingual (Spanish/English), must pass qualified bilingual staff test administered by JH Language Access Services.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of established diagnostic criteria for substance use and psychiatric disorders.
- Training and Experience: Some training in psychodynamic therapy. Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques helpful.
- Experience Working with Diverse Populations: Experience working with chronic mental illness, alcohol/substance use disorder, migrant population experience.
This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule, 8:30am-5:00pm. The position is exempt and located on the School of Medicine Campus.
