Financial Advisor IQ, a premier publication in the wealth management sector, is seeking a seasoned financial journalist to excel in a dynamic, deadline-oriented newsroom environment.

The successful candidate will integrate into a team of dedicated and skilled journalists, quickly establishing themselves as a pivotal contributor. We are looking for a proactive reporter who is eager to immerse themselves in the financial advisory domain, cultivating insider connections and expertise to deliver exclusive, essential narratives. FA-IQ is an FT specialist publication dedicated to educating and informing advisors through daily news and features that focus on the wealth management industry, practice management, and other relevant topics that impact their daily operations and long-term careers. Our daily news updates cover trends in practice management, client relationship management, technology, operations, legal compliance, and more. FA-IQ is produced by an in-house team of journalists, aiming to assist advisors in enhancing their practices by reporting through the lens of the advisor-client dynamic.

Key Responsibilities

The role demands a reporter capable of meeting daily deadlines and producing three or more comprehensive articles weekly. You will be expected to rapidly acquire knowledge about the registered investment advisor (RIA) and broker-dealer sectors. We seek individuals with a keen news sense, capable of developing a network of sources and managing a pipeline of in-depth stories. You will conduct interviews with top industry executives to create exclusive content covering wealth management.

This position may be classified as either a reporter or senior reporter level, contingent on expertise, experience, and qualifications.

Your contributions will span all sections and formats of Financial Advisor IQ editorial, including video interviews, features, online discussions, webcasts, and other emerging formats. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the Financial Times and attend industry conferences.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • A strong passion for delivering timely news and insightful analysis
  • An engaging interview style that fosters confidence and open dialogue with experienced business leaders
  • Demonstrated experience in financial or business reporting, including the ability to write longer analytical pieces
  • Familiarity with various content formats (e.g., photos, videos, charts, and graphs) and the ability to develop stories from concept to publication
  • Proficiency in generating and pitching story ideas
  • A high personal standard of excellence and pride in your work
  • Exceptional editorial judgment
