Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Child Life department, you will play a vital role in coordinating therapeutic and recreational therapy programs for pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement developmentally appropriate educational and recreational activities for patients, ensuring their physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are met.
  • Provide direction and supervision to playroom staff and volunteers, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for patients.
  • Collaborate with hospital professionals to promote the physical and psychological well-being of pediatric patients.
  • Document program activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in educational programs, workshops, and meetings to enhance professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 1 year of directly related experience.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The successful candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling biohazardous materials.
