Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating therapeutic and recreational therapy programs for pediatric patients at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child development and be able to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement therapeutic and recreational programs for pediatric patients, ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Activity Planning and Execution: Plan and execute developmentally appropriate activities for patients, ensuring their physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are met.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program activities, patient progress, and any concerns or issues that arise.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise and train playroom staff and volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care and support to patients.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as child development, education, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a related field, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Credentials: Current CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification.
