Core Responsibilities
In the role of Client-Focused Solutions Engineer at MotherDuck, your primary mission is to ensure the success of our users. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Gaining a deep understanding of customer requirements.
  • Collaborating with product and engineering teams to enhance our offerings.
  • Designing and proposing tailored solutions.
  • Working directly with clients on implementation.
  • Synthesizing insights and learnings to drive continuous improvement.

You will be a skilled engineer capable of executing engineering initiatives autonomously. Your exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities will be crucial in this role. We value creativity and adaptability, and you should feel comfortable navigating ambiguity while working closely with customers, engineers, product managers, and designers.

Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess:

  • A solid understanding and hands-on experience with analytics databases, BI tools, and data processing technologies.
  • Expertise in SQL.
  • A comprehensive understanding of various data management architectures, including OLAP, OLTP, data lakes, and HTAP.
  • Experience with database connectors and drivers such as JDBC, ODBC, and SQLAlchemy.
  • A background in a highly technical outbound engineering role.
  • Experience in developing technical customer solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Confidence in collaborating with clients to architect and troubleshoot solutions.
  • Comfort with a high level of ambiguity and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following will be advantageous:

  • Experience with Python and dbt.
  • Background in building outbound engineering or technical sales teams.
  • Experience in developing data tool connectors.
  • Knowledge of data file formats, such as Parquet.
  • Practical experience in building end-to-end data pipelines.
