Job Summary:

The Construction Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to construction, repair, and restoration of buildings. This includes installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs, as well as fitting and installing window frames, doors, and door hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using various materials.
  • Fits and installs window frames, doors, and door hardware.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
  • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings.
  • Assembles and fastens materials to make frameworks or props using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repairs or replaces them using hand tools.
  • Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
  • Moves necessary materials around the jobsite as assigned.
  • Finishing drywall and painting.
  • Cleans up worksite debris.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma is an asset.
  • 4 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry.
  • Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans, and other specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company-specific safety orientation.
  • Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
    • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
    • Exposure to chemicals.
    • Walking and standing for long periods of time, driving, sitting, climbing.
    • Ability to climb ladders and work at ceiling heights.
    • Ability to work in tight spaces (e.g., crawls spaces under buildings).
    • Repetitive pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects.
