Key Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to build a strong base of members, volunteers, and grassroots leaders supporting criminal justice reform.
- Leadership Development: Recruit, develop, and train Progressive Maryland members for leadership roles, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to drive social change.
- Campaign Mobilization: Mobilize supporters through events, legislative testimony, and petitions, leveraging our collective power to influence policy and drive reform.
- Campaign Planning: Collaborate with the Campaigns Director to develop and implement comprehensive campaign plans, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to achieving our goals.
- Coalition Building: Represent Progressive Maryland in coalition spaces related to the campaign, fostering partnerships and building a strong network of allies.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience in social justice issues or progressive campaigns, with a strong understanding of the complexities of criminal justice reform.
- Organizing Skills: Excellent grassroots community organizing, canvassing, and phone banking skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new digital platforms, with a strong understanding of campaign platforms like Votebuilder/VAN.
- Leadership Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Maryland Politics: Familiarity with Maryland political systems and a deep understanding of the state's complex policy landscape.
- Criminal Justice Reform Expertise: Knowledge of criminal justice reform and progressive drug policy approaches, with a strong understanding of the intersection of justice and equity.
Benefits:
Salary: $50,000-$65,000
