Job Description

Wayside Farm Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Nursing Policies: Create and enforce policies and procedures that govern nursing services, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Lead and Develop Nursing Staff: Champion staff performance, recruitment, retention, and development, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Conduct Resident Assessments: Conduct daily rounds to assess resident physical, mental, and emotional well-being, and take necessary nursing actions to ensure their dignity and respect are upheld.
  • Evaluate Staffing and Services: Evaluate staffing and services for quality and cost-effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage Budget and Resources: Plan, develop, and implement budgeted staffing processes and services, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Represent the Facility: Act as a spokesperson on nursing matters and represent the facility to professional nursing organizations, promoting our commitment to quality care.
  • Monitor Clinical Record Documentation: Monitor and audit clinical record documentation for accuracy and timeliness, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate Care Planning: Facilitate and coordinate care planning activities across various disciplines, ensuring resident-centered care.
  • Ensure Resident Rights: Ensure resident dignity, respect, rights, and confidentiality are upheld in all leadership activities.
  • Participate in Staff Selection: Participate in the selection of nurses, STNAs, and other nursing unit staff, ensuring the best candidates are hired.
  • Provide Training and Education: Provide training and education to maintain and improve staff knowledge and skills, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Stay Current with Regulations: Maintain current knowledge and compliance with federal and state regulations, ensuring our facility remains in compliance.
  • Foster Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with other staff members to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with state laws.
  • Nursing Management Experience: Preferred three years of prior nursing management experience in long-term care and/or mental health.
  • Nursing Education: Graduated from an accredited or state-approved nursing school.
