Role Summary

The Safety and Security Coordinator operates with a degree of autonomy, ensuring the safety and security of the Haven for Hope premises. This role involves conducting regular patrols, performing security assessments, and monitoring the environment for unauthorized access. The Coordinator is responsible for responding to incidents, identifying hazards, and documenting occurrences throughout their shift. Additionally, this position requires collaboration with Haven for Hope staff and partners to support the needs of clients.

The Coordinator engages with clients utilizing services at Haven for Hope, assisting them as they navigate the facility. This includes welcoming clients, providing information about available services, and acting as a resource for inquiries. The role is crucial in recognizing and addressing situations where clients may be in distress, ensuring their safety, and coordinating with service providers to deliver appropriate support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts foot and vehicle patrols across the Haven for Hope property.
  • Observes activities in and around facilities, parking areas, and open spaces.
  • Ensures that guest and meeting areas are secure and locked.
  • Identifies safety risks, documents findings, and reports them promptly.
  • Addresses and requests cleanup for hazardous incidents.
  • Maintains written records of injuries, property damage, theft, and vandalism.
  • Manages conflicts involving clients and other individuals on campus, addressing policy violations.
  • Recognizes and assists clients in crisis situations, ensuring their safety and connecting them with necessary services.
  • Inputs data into the internal incident reporting system and completes required documentation.
  • Provides assistance to clients regarding available services from Haven and partner organizations.
  • Monitors client interactions and progress during routine engagements.
  • Shares information about partner programs available to clients.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a Level 3 Certification from the State of Texas or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Experience and Requirements
  • Minimum of one year of relevant security experience in Texas.
  • Ownership of a firearm with a Level III Holster.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in security protocols and lock procedures.
  • Capable of delivering protective services effectively.
  • Ability to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel and clients.
  • Skilled in identifying and reporting suspicious activities and security breaches.
  • Ability to assist law enforcement with investigations as needed.
  • Competent in gathering and analyzing information and evidence.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in data collection and report preparation using internal systems.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and printers.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and decision-making processes.
  • Ability to detect issues and relay information to appropriate personnel.
  • Proficient in using communication equipment, such as two-way radios.
  • Completion of First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens training is required.
  • Completion of Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Informed Care training is required.
  • Basic knowledge of hazardous materials is preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Medium Work: Involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. The Coordinator must possess visual acuity to assess the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
