Overview

The Security and Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing and monitoring designated areas to ensure a secure environment for both guests and staff while minimizing potential risks of loss or damage.

This role involves taking proactive measures to prevent any individual or element from compromising the safety of persons or property within the hospitality facilities. The Specialist is expected to deliver outstanding service to all guests and team members consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive awareness of scheduled events, occupancy levels, hotel amenities, operational hours, layout of the facility, emergency protocols, and departmental conduct guidelines.
  • Review daily logs and familiarize oneself with essential information pertinent to the shift. Ensure effective communication with the previous shift to follow up on any outstanding matters.
  • Provide safe escorts for staff as per departmental standards.
  • Monitor and document after-hours access to secured areas, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with hotel policies.
  • Handle deliveries received outside of business hours in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with external agencies as necessary, adhering to hotel regulations.
  • Coordinate responses to emergency situations as outlined in the departmental manual.
  • Immediately notify the Security Supervisor in case of emergencies as specified in the departmental guidelines.
  • Monitor surveillance systems as assigned and investigate alarm activations, following the respective protocols.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the property using designated equipment, checking all specified locations and documenting actions taken according to departmental standards.
  • Address and resolve any safety hazards encountered.
  • Ensure the security of guest room access; assist guests with entry in line with hotel procedures.
  • Challenge any suspicious individuals on the property in accordance with established protocols.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents such as theft, lost items, noise disturbances, and other guest-related complaints, completing detailed reports as required.
  • Respond promptly to any guest or employee accidents; administer first aid or CPR as necessary, following guidelines and departmental procedures; communicate relevant information to emergency medical services as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a hospitality environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is essential.
  • Ability to provide clear communication and directions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
