Custodian (Monday - Friday / 2pm-10pm) - Facilities Maintenance Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Washington and Jefferson College. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors, as well as clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, and other interior fixtures.
- Special Event Support: Assist with setting up and breaking down special events, including moving furniture, supplies, and equipment.
- Trash and Recycling: Clean and empty trash cans, and ensure that recycling is properly sorted and disposed of.
- Grounds Maintenance: Remove snow and ice from campus roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and steps, and apply salt and/or ice melting products as needed.
- Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs, such as replacing sweeper belts or removing light fixture covers, as required.
- Communication: Follow prescribed safety regulations and inform management of potential risks or hazards.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: No prior work experience required, but ability to learn new procedures and techniques is essential.
- Skills: Ability to read, write, and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position, good interpersonal skills, and willingness to learn.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, push and pull, stand, walk up to 8 hours per day, climb ladders, scaffolds up to 10' high, and stairs, bend, stoop, and kneel.
