Washington and Jefferson College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Housekeeping and Janitorial Duties: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors, as well as clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, and other interior fixtures.
- Special Function Set-ups: Move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and other items inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
- Grounds Maintenance: Remove snow and ice from College roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and steps, and apply salt and/or ice melting products as needed.
- Event Support: Assist with athletic and event set-ups and break downs as required.
- Physical Plant Support: Participate in loading and unloading trucks during major moves, and assist with minor repairs such as replacing sweeper belts or removing light fixture covers.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: No prior work experience required, but ability to follow instructions and work independently is essential.
- Skills: Ability to read, write, and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position, good interpersonal skills, and willingness to learn.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform other physical tasks as required.
