Manufacturing Maintenance Leader

The Maintenance Manager serves as a pivotal leader within E&E Mfg of Tennessee, overseeing the Total Preventative Maintenance System. This role is responsible for the implementation and assessment of the efficiency of manufacturing machinery and maintenance protocols, ensuring optimal equipment availability while minimizing upkeep expenses. The Maintenance Manager will proactively manage the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) for multiple facilities and effectively lead the Maintenance team by providing training and development opportunities for Technicians supporting Press and Assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish monitoring systems for all plant machinery operations.
- Continuously evaluate plant equipment and systems to minimize unexpected downtimes, including:
- Identifying and addressing root causes of issues promptly.
- Spotting areas for enhancement.
- Developing and refining a computerized Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) system.
- Initiate and manage a comprehensive maintenance program grounded in industry best practices, focusing on planning, scheduling, and preventative/predictive maintenance.
- Oversee maintenance and repair tasks for all plant equipment as required.
- Consult with external industry specialists as necessary.
- Implement and maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance records. Review weekly reports to ensure timely completion of critical work orders that support equipment availability.
- Generate reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations for enhancing plant operations and resolving maintenance-related issues.
- Supervise maintenance personnel through shift supervisors.
- Ensure maintenance technicians receive adequate training, resources, and motivation to execute the maintenance program safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Facilitate regular communication with maintenance staff, both individually and in group settings, to foster open dialogue regarding maintenance challenges and improvements.
- Lead projects aimed at boosting efficiency and/or reducing operational costs.
- Monitor, analyze, and enhance key maintenance metrics such as equipment uptime, maintenance expenses, PM compliance, and work order efficiency.
- Engage in departmental goal setting, planning, and performance evaluations for all plant equipment.
- Oversee the inventory and usage of spare parts and maintenance supplies, establishing a reordering system as needed.
- Assist in the planning and execution of plant upgrades and expansions.
- Conduct timely performance evaluations for maintenance supervisors and technicians based on job descriptions to assess their skills, knowledge, and contributions.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) manager and plant manager to uphold safety, health, and environmental standards. Ensure plant equipment complies with established policies and procedures.
- Guarantee that all 5S standards are met within the maintenance department and at all project sites where maintenance technicians operate.
- Oversee and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department; personally review job site safety to maintain high safety standards for all maintenance staff.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant city, county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the maintenance department.
- Coordinate activities with the plant operations department.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee must encounter to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Employees may experience environments such as:
- Manufacturing settings (high noise levels, traffic from forklifts, etc.)
- Working at heights or in precarious positions.
Noise Level:
The noise level in the work environment will be elevated due to machinery and equipment operation. Hearing protection will be mandatory on the plant floor.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands outlined below are representative of those an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Constantly standing and walking throughout the day.
- Occasionally crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting, and pushing/pulling.
- Constantly sitting during certain tasks.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Maintenance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- An Associate's degree in a related field is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in metal stamping and/or assembly within the automotive manufacturing sector is required.
- At least five (5) years of experience managing a Maintenance department in an automotive manufacturing environment is essential.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience working within the Maintenance department in an automotive manufacturing setting is required.

Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (MS Office).
Communication Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Capability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to understand a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
Analytical Skills:
- Proficient in mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra.
- Able to measure key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize departmental data to formulate strategies for addressing gaps and deficiencies.
Other Skills:
- Detail-oriented and organized, capable of meeting deadlines while managing multiple responsibilities.
- Able to solve practical problems and navigate a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Thorough knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, electronics (PLC), HVAC, welding, machining, and fabrication is required. Experience in stamping equipment maintenance is strongly preferred.
