Position Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of all production and facility assets in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires a proactive approach to staying informed about the latest advancements in equipment, technology, and maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the operation of machinery and mechanical systems by executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on production, packaging, and utility systems.
  • Be readily available for urgent repairs during equipment breakdowns.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including service manuals and schematics, to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance by utilizing computerized systems and analyzing performance data.
  • Support line manufacturing systems, including chemical and ingredient delivery systems.
  • Complete maintenance work orders promptly while adhering to high-quality standards.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment, including hand tools and electric meters, to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and management regarding any issues that may affect production efficiency.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, clear, and compliant with standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels of parts and supplies by reporting shortages to the supervisor.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout-tagout procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Take responsibility for food safety and quality within the designated area.
  • Report any food safety or quality concerns to management immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 PM to 06:30 AM.

Compensation: Hourly rate of $28.33.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Formal training in Engineering or Maintenance is desirable.
  • Entry-level candidates with certification are welcome; however, a minimum of one year of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage sector, is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with technical systems such as electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC.
  • Experience with various equipment types, including lubrication, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging systems.
  • Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
  • Ability to assess equipment conditions, identify potential issues, and take corrective actions independently.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to work in a wet environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including drug tests and background checks.
