Role Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing and managing patients requiring respiratory care. This includes administering prescribed therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine appropriate treatment plans based on their diagnoses.
  • Deliver respiratory care services in line with physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Implement and oversee patient care plans and equipment, monitoring and documenting patient conditions.
  • Administer advanced respiratory care techniques and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding health conditions and available community resources.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment, ensuring departmental inventory is adequately stocked.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in rapid response situations.
  • Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly communicate verbally with patients and team members.
  • Frequent standing and walking required.
  • Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of vision for tasks requiring depth perception and color distinction.
  • Frequent hearing to respond to alarms and patient communications.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • State licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
