The Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by delivering specialized respiratory care to patients experiencing breathing difficulties. This position involves assessing patient needs, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring optimal respiratory function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory treatments to manage, alleviate, or prevent respiratory complications.
  • Execute therapy protocols as directed by medical professionals, while clearly communicating treatment objectives to patients and adapting methods based on their feedback.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate patient progress, making necessary adjustments to therapy based on clinical assessments.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding respiratory health and management strategies.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment to ensure safety and efficacy.
  • Act promptly in emergency situations, providing necessary respiratory interventions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent training and experience.
  • Must obtain National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist certification within the first year of employment.
  • Possession of an active State Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • ACLS certification is required within the first six months of employment.
