Food Service Director I

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Director I - SES to join our team at the State of Florida. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning and directing the facility food service and staff to ensure sanitary, safe, nutritious, and cost-effective meals and snacks for residents with therapeutic needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct the facility food service and staff to ensure compliance with Federal and State Statutes and Regulations.
  • Manage a staff of Food Production and Services Supervisor, Food Support Workers, Support Service Aides, and others assigned to work in the Food preparation activities of the Home.
  • Initiate all purchase requests for food and other kitchen supplies, maintain inventory control, and verify incoming shipments.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation procedures in the preparation and serving of food and in the use and cleaning of food production equipment.
  • Evaluate employees, present performance standards and evaluations, and hire and discipline all Food Service Employees.
  • Consult with the Dietitian regarding menus, policies, and procedures, and develop policy and procedures to manage the food service department.

Requirements:

  • Credentialed as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of management experience in food service, plus minimum one (1) year of experience supervising food service operations and staff.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Employment experience in a long-term care facility with a geriatric population.
  • Food service experience in a cafeteria-style setting.
  • Electronic dietary tracking experience.
  • Food production, food purchasing, and inventory experience.
