Senior Fire Safety Engineer

Position Overview
The Lead Fire Protection Engineer will spearhead the design initiatives on diverse multi-disciplinary projects, overseeing the development of thorough fire protection documentation encompassing fire suppression, alarm systems, smoke control, and life safety measures. This role includes conducting assessments for both new and existing life safety programs, managing the construction administration process, and visiting client locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the design, specification, and integration of various fire protection systems, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam/water suppression systems.
- Oversee fire water supply infrastructure, which includes storage tanks, pumps, and both underground and aboveground distribution piping.
- Manage outdoor fire suppression systems, including monitors and spray systems, as well as addressable and non-addressable voice evacuation fire alarm systems.
- Conduct fire protection calculations, including hydraulic analysis, battery assessments, and voltage drop evaluations.
- Evaluate building and life safety requirements, including area and height limitations, construction types, fire resistive assemblies, occupancy classifications, and smoke management systems.
- Lead construction administration efforts, coordinating with field personnel to address design-related installation challenges, reviewing contractor submissions, and conducting field inspections.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations to clients.
- Foster strong relationships with existing clients and contractors while identifying new business opportunities.
- Manage sales and marketing initiatives to pinpoint key pursuits.
- Ensure that revenue and customer satisfaction objectives are achieved.
- Oversee the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial performance targets.
- Monitor project performance metrics.
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the department.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in fire protection engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited institution.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant design experience (a Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in design tools such as hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD or Revit, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to obtain and maintain access authorization to sensitive facilities and data.
- NICET certification and experience with military standards are highly desirable.
- Professional Fire Protection Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
