Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Crane Mechanic to join our team at Custom One Truck Source. As a Crane Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing heavy duty crane modifications, installations, and repairs to damaged cranes, buckets, diggers, crane parts, and performing crane repair and maintenance work in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards under the general direction of the Crane Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Removal of Crane Equipment: Install and remove different types of crane and crane equipment, including crane truck wheelbases and crane truck suspensions.
  • Crane Modification and Repair: Modify crane truck wheelbases and install and remove crane truck suspensions, perform work as outlined on crane order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards.
  • Fabrication and Installation of Crane Components: Fabricate and install components related to crane equipment installations.
  • Shop Maintenance and Organization: Keep shop area neat and clean, be able to account for all tools at all times, and dispose of used oil, grease, antifreeze, and filters in the assigned location to ensure EPA compliance.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts, tag all warranty and core parts, and take to area for return, ensuring proper credit is allowed.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Test crane to quality-check work performed, ensure that customers' cranes are kept clean, and work with all departments in harmony.
  • Training and Development: Attend factory-sponsored training classes and ensure that you have a working knowledge and understanding of the Company's Job Safety policies pertaining to this position.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year experience in a similar role or certification from a recognized training program, accredited trade school, or similar institution.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and ability to communicate effectively before individual customers or groups of customers or employees of the organization or parent organization.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Highly detail-oriented and organized in work, acceptable written and oral communication skills, ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
