Job Title: Accounting Manager-FCB Stores

At Kroger, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our FCB Stores Accounting team. As a key member of our accounting center, you will be responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals and ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient completion of accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals to achieve accurate, timely, and efficient accounting results.
  • Develop and implement best practices and procedures for consolidation of accounting functions into work sections.
  • Manage headcount and wage dollars against budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Implement new/revised accounting policies and processing procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead and advise team members on proper handling of exceptions and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist corporate and divisional teams in evaluating financial results and problem-solving.
  • Review and guide projects related to the work area, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Manage department overtime, ensuring effective resource allocation and minimizing costs.
  • Recommend associates for promotion/transfer decisions, based on performance and potential.
  • Assist in the formulation of formal and concise audit responses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform periodic and quarterly account balance detail/service level agreement, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and efficient customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Interview and hire qualified Administrative Support Personnel, ensuring the right skills and experience for the role.
  • Provide open and honest communication with associates, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Develop training schedules and plans to ensure all associates receive the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their roles.
  • Maintain confidentiality of conversations and documents, ensuring the security and integrity of company information.
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflicts, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Travel independently to other divisions for training and meetings, representing Kroger and promoting our values and mission.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties, completing performance reviews and providing feedback to ensure growth and development.
Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a strong focus on achieving accurate, timely, and efficient accounting results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience in accounting software and systems.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team of accounting professionals.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound business judgment and work successfully with all associates, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an environment that receives open and honest communication, fostering a culture of transparency and trust.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, with experience in managing and developing accounting professionals.
  • Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity, making sound decisions and taking calculated risks.
  • Strong knowledge of company policies and procedures related to process and accounting controls, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with a strong focus on accounting and finance principles.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with a strong focus on accounting and finance principles.
  • Any experience working in the Oracle Accounting system, with a strong understanding of accounting software and systems.
  • Any experience in accounting center or shared service center roles, with a strong focus on accounting and finance principles.
  • Any experience with corporate accounting, divisional accounting, or auditing, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced accounting or finance roles within Kroger, with a strong focus on accounting and finance principles.
  • CPA Certified Public Accountant, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Understanding of Kroger Accounting systems, with a strong focus on accounting and finance principles.
