Job Overview

The Department of Toxic Substances Control is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Remediation Specialist to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-priority projects aimed at protecting human health and the environment.

About the Position

This Environmental Remediation Specialist will be responsible for planning and managing a workload consisting of multiple assignments on projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines to ensure all assignments are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan and manage a workload consisting of multiple assignments on projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines to ensure all assignments are completed on time and within budget.
  • Estimate Oversight Costs: Prepare estimates for oversight costs for each assigned project and follow-up with the Responsible Parties to ensure payment of invoices of billed activities.
  • Database Maintenance: Routinely update and maintain project information on existing sites in DTSC's EnviroStor database, including uploading major milestone documents to EnviroStor on a timely basis Maintain site files and databases for internal and external use.
  • Communication: Communicate internally and externally the status of assignments, recommendations, or issues and prepares clear written documents free of errors in grammar or punctuation Conduct assignments in a team environment by providing information and coordinating project work with other team members including participating in team-based decision making, respectfully resolving disputes and maintaining an environment of trust.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Project Management/Leadership Experience: Proven experience in project management and leadership, with the ability to plan and manage multiple assignments on projects with conflicting deadlines.
  • Technical Communication Skills: Excellent technical communication skills, both verbally and written, with experience communicating complex information to stakeholders.
  • Strong Work Ethic: A strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic Office Applications: Competent in basic office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PDF, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of Soil Science and Environmental Sciences: Fundamental knowledge in soil science, geochemistry/chemistry, health & safety, biology, environmental sciences, and/or water quality.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
