Palmetto Care Center is currently in search of a qualified Medical Records Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of resident medical records and health information systems, adhering to all relevant federal and state regulations as well as our internal privacy policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and management of the medical records department, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate the accurate maintenance of resident records.
  • Retrieve and deliver resident records, both manually and electronically, as needed.
  • File essential documents such as nurses' notes, assessments, and laboratory reports into resident charts.
  • Ensure that incomplete records are promptly returned to the appropriate departments for correction.
  • Develop and implement procedures to guarantee that all resident records are complete, coded, and securely stored.
  • Manage the closure of discharged resident records, ensuring all documentation is organized and complete.
  • Track the release of records to authorized personnel and maintain a log of all information shared.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Assist in the development of quality assurance programs for medical records.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical records management or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and privacy practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
