ROLE OVERVIEW

The Conflicts Resolution Attorney is responsible for addressing conflict reports and managing associated conflicts of interest. This role involves comprehensive research, providing resolution recommendations, drafting necessary waivers, and ensuring documentation clearance. The Attorney will also oversee the conflicts team.

  • Serve as the designated In-House Counsel for the firm; engage in privileged discussions and provide guidance to General Counsel, partners, associates, and staff regarding conflict issues and their resolution.
  • Evaluate and authorize conflict of interest reports prepared by the conflicts resolution analysts. Provide insights on ethical wall inquiries and concerns.
  • Accelerate the resolution of conflict reports by conducting thorough research within firm databases to identify and prioritize potential conflicts, collaborating with relevant attorneys and stakeholders to facilitate resolutions, and documenting outcomes.
  • Review and formulate conflict waiver language for inclusion in waiver and engagement letters, as well as in Outside Counsel Guidelines.
  • Utilize advanced methodologies to systematically analyze complex conflict issues in a clear and timely manner, demonstrating a thorough understanding of business needs and ongoing firm objectives.
  • Assist with conflicts-related initiatives as required.
  • Integrate expertise in conflict adherence with the principles of firm risk management guidelines.
  • Provide support and backup to Conflicts Counsel as needed.
  • Mentor and train conflicts analysts on identifying and resolving conflict issues, ensuring departmental objectives align with firm goals and applying a deep understanding of current and future client needs.
  • Collaborate with the conflicts leadership team to continuously enhance the firm’s conflicts policies and procedures, defining strategies to achieve objectives and implement risk management practices.
  • Participate in firmwide and/or individual conflicts training as necessary, applying leadership skills and advanced management techniques to optimize risk management training and technology.
  • Supervise the New Matter Conflicts Resolution Team.
  • Ensure that department staff effectively meets client service objectives, providing supportive coaching, setting achievable yet challenging team goals, and developing team members' skills to ensure client service priorities are met.
  • Conduct timely, substantive, and strategically aligned performance evaluations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • A minimum of two years of relevant law firm experience in Conflicts Resolution.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with IntApp Conflicts, ServiceNow, and Sitescan is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing conflicts of interest and the conflict resolution process is essential.
  • A demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Strong legal research and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven team management and leadership skills, with the ability to thrive in a client service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to cultivate effective internal and external client relationships.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the capacity to comprehend, interpret, and prepare complex written materials and present intricate ideas succinctly.

Where required by law, salary ranges are provided below. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The displayed range is specifically for positions performed in certain locations and may vary based on factors such as local market data, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

Salary range: $145k to $205k
