CRM Rental Management, Inc. is on the lookout for a skilled Full-Time Compliance Specialist to oversee compliance in the Mohawk Valley and Capital Regions, NY. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development and possess the following qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate assigned move-ins, initial certifications, annual re-certifications, and interim certifications following established guidelines.
- Regularly monitor the Recertification schedule to ensure timely processing and maintain communication with the Director of Compliance regarding recertification updates.
- Collaborate with Office Managers to prepare certification notices, conduct interviews, verify household information, and complete Tenant Income Certifications.
- Assist Office Managers in the creation of all compliance-related documents as directed by the Director of Compliance.
- Conduct compliance file audits as needed and collaborate with other Compliance Specialists.
- Adhere to company policies and regulations, including Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other relevant housing laws.
- Stay informed about new IRS regulations related to tax credit properties.
- Remain current on changes to Section 8, Rural Development Home Funds, fair housing standards, compliance, and other relevant housing programs.
- Perform additional duties, assignments, and special projects as required.
- Required certifications include TCS and COS (or BOS), STAR/RD certification, or equivalent experience, with the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
- HOME and HTF certifications are preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HUD program compliance, Tax Credit, and Rural Development is necessary.
- Experience in supervisory roles with a proven track record of success is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a confident and positive demeanor.
- Ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals and handle resident issues with diplomacy.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Property Management Software.
- Willingness to work 40 hours per week, including weekends for staffing needs and emergencies.
- Availability for local travel for corporate training sessions.
