Job Summary

The Medical Oncology Nurse at East Alabama Medical Center plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support. As the Office Nurse for the Medical Oncologist, this individual will be responsible for managing patient appointments, new referrals, prescription refills, prior authorizations, and symptom management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide necessary assessments and administer treatments to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to develop a personalized care plan for each patient.
  • Manage patient records and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience
    • At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an office setting or oncology
  • Registration/License/Certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
    • Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider training within 6 months of hire
    • Registered Nursing License
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
