Role Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, delivers both direct and indirect personal care to patients. This role requires an understanding of the unique needs of each patient and effective collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care.
As a Specialist, the employee must demonstrate proficiency in the responsibilities of a Unit Secretary and fulfill the qualifications necessary for a Certified Nursing Assistant. Additionally, performing Telemetry Tech duties may qualify the individual for the Specialist designation. On-the-job training for Telemetry and/or Unit Secretary tasks will be provided.
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED is preferred.
2. Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services, with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
3. Maintain American Heart Association BLS Certification.
4. If performing Telemetry Tech duties: Completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course and/or competency training for basic arrhythmia interpretation may be required.
5. If performing Unit Secretary duties: Completion of training in fundamental unit secretary tasks (e.g., transcription of physician orders, computer data entry).
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
2. Capability to see colors and distinguish at least 1 mm squares.
3. Ability to hear within normal range.
4. Capacity to reach overhead.
5. Ability to maintain composure and prioritize tasks during stressful situations.
6. Effective communication skills using both written and verbal methods.
7. Ability to operate equipment and transport supplies.
8. Capability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
