Shift Details: This position operates on a rotating shift schedule of 3 days on, 2 days off, followed by 2 days on, rotating thereafter.

Work Schedule: The role involves a 12-hour shift from 6 PM to 6 AM.

Position Purpose

The Packaging Technician plays a crucial role in the setup, operation, sanitation, and basic preventative maintenance of various manufacturing equipment, including labelers, case packers, and palletizers. This position is essential for monitoring operations and performing minor repairs to ensure that production equipment operates efficiently while adhering to all quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and workplace regulations.
  • Work safely and efficiently on equipment, ensuring the production of quality products that meet specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform minor repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor equipment performance through visual checks and auditory cues to ensure proper operation.
  • Manage the supply and removal of materials, including labels, corrugate, shrink film, and damaged products.
  • Proactively oversee production flow, addressing jams promptly to maintain efficiency.
  • Maintain cleanliness of packaging equipment and surrounding areas to uphold audit readiness.
  • Comply with color-coded container policies during material handling.
  • Document daily records of finished goods and rejected materials.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is mandatory.
  • Basic math and reasoning skills are required.
  • Must be a team player and self-motivated.
  • Experience in high-speed production environments is preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Mobility: The technician will stand, walk, and lift throughout their shift, with the ability to lift up to 60 pounds frequently and 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Physical Activity: The role involves pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping as necessary.
  • Climbing and Reaching: The technician will need to climb on platforms and reach above shoulder level for various tasks.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers is required for operating machinery.
Food Safety Compliance

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting any necessary repairs or adjustments that may impact product quality or safety.
  • Understanding and adhering to food safety standards and policies.
  • Taking proactive measures to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and product quality.
  • Documenting any issues related to food safety and quality.
  • Ensuring that nonconforming products are controlled until issues are resolved.
