Senior Banking Relationship Manager, Credit Strategist

Flagstar Bank is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Banking Senior Relationship Manager to join its team in Manhattan, Staten Island, and New Jersey. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop new business relationships with middle market companies and drive revenue growth.
About the RoleAs a Commercial Banking Senior Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for generating revenue by developing and maintaining relationships with identified companies, sponsors, developers, and managers. Your primary objective will be to generate direct deal flow, coordinate team approaches to approving and closing new deals, and grow assets and revenues while optimizing profitability (ROE).
This role requires strong analytical and credit skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills to present proposals to clients and recommend loan transactions to bank senior management. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with industry trends and market conditions that may impact the Sponsor Coverage group and assigned portfolio of relationships and borrowers.
Key Responsibilities- New Business Origination: Develop and maintain relationships to generate direct deal flow, coordinating team approaches to approve and close new deals.
- Relationship Management: Work with assigned portfolio managers to engage with sponsors and borrowers on idea generation and relevant opportunities to expand our relationship.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with Division management to create a strategic plan for the Group and create action plans to ensure achievement of the plan, including setting and tracking individualized goals for each team member.
- Credit Quality: Proactively monitor credit quality of the portfolio through timely financial statement gathering, monitoring client compliance, and analyzing financial information to take or recommend corrective actions based on acceptable levels.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, formal credit training, and at least 10 years of commercial financing or equivalent lending experience. They should have established relationships and a proven track record of direct origination with relevant companies, as well as expertise in negotiating, structuring, and closing complex loans.
