Job Summary

Buckner International is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Program Aide to join our Family Hope Center Program in Houston, TX. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, promoting their physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a growth-producing environment that stimulates self-confidence and trust, while ensuring the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of children under your supervision.
  • Participate in character development and service learning projects with youth, promoting their personal growth and development.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and approach when working with children, parents, guests, and coworkers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Report any special needs or problems of individual children to your supervisor, ensuring timely and effective support.
  • Support the program's daily plan, which includes elements of recreation, responsibility, and spirituality, promoting a well-rounded and engaging experience for children.
  • Assist youth with homework, arts, and crafts projects, as well as implement recreation activities that promote socialization and fun.
  • Provide safe transportation for children in van or other Buckner vehicle as required, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in-service training, including CPR and First Aid training, to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications are necessary; you must attend CPR, First Aid, and restraint training as required.
  • Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; you must provide proof of liability insurance and be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy. You must be at least 21 years old to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time.
