Job Overview

Position Objective

The Children's Ministry Educator is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for the young members of the congregation. This role involves delivering age-appropriate care and educational experiences for children participating in the daytime program, fostering their development through interactive play, storytelling, and structured learning activities. Adherence to safety protocols and state regulations is essential in this position.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver age-appropriate care for all enrolled children, including those requiring drop-in services, which encompasses feeding, diaper changes, bathroom assistance, and nap supervision.

2. Design and execute a developmentally suitable curriculum tailored for the classroom.

3. Ensure a secure environment for children by maintaining constant vigilance.

4. Engage with children through interactive games, storytelling, playtime, and prayer.

5. Comply with all safety guidelines and regulations concerning Safe Sanctuary and childcare practices.

6. Address inquiries from church members and visitors regarding directions, ministries, and events, representing St. Luke's UMC effectively.

7. Communicate with parents during drop-off and pick-up times, discussing any relevant issues.

8. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting space for both children and their parents.

9. Sanitize and clean all surfaces, toys, and tables after each use.

10. Document significant behaviors and observations of the children in your care.

11. Participate in mandatory quarterly training sessions and stay current with state licensing requirements.

12. Serve as a flexible support across different age groups when necessary.

Additional Duties

13. Assist during various church events as required.

14. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Role

· None

Qualifications:

Education:

· High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

· A bachelor's degree in education or a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification is preferred.

· Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Experience:

· A minimum of three to five years of experience in childcare for children aged 0-6 is required.

· Training in infant and child care is essential; ongoing training will be provided by St. Luke's.
