Capital Equipment Project Manager

MyKelly is seeking a skilled Capital Equipment Project Manager to join our esteemed client.

Contract Duration: 6 Months

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Capital Equipment Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the coordination of equipment requirements between Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This role involves collaboration with new product and operational teams to facilitate product launches and ongoing support activities. The Project Manager will analyze the effects of cycle time modifications and adjust forecasts as necessary. Additionally, the Project Manager will validate equipment demands from OEMs and liaise with the business team to ensure timely ordering and tracking of equipment deliveries.

The Capital Equipment Project Manager is responsible for developing the overall project budget, gathering budget requests from OEM and Quality teams, and creating a capitalization plan aligned with project timelines. This role also includes monitoring expenditures by project. A successful Project Manager will coordinate with cross-functional partners to ensure that program equipment requirements are fulfilled. Project Managers are expected to be decisive leaders who can work effectively with multi-functional teams to identify risks, explore solutions, achieve consensus, and implement mitigations swiftly. This requires a comprehensive understanding of both development and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive daily on-site activities to meet overall program objectives, focusing on escalations, communication, and process alignment during engineering design and validation cycles for new programs and production ramp-up.
  • Support and oversee the management of company capital equipment deployed on-site.
  • Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Encourage collaboration across engineering functions, operations, and vendors.
  • Create and maintain project capital expenditure requirements.
  • Provide multiple levels of status updates across a diverse range of individual projects to executive management.
  • Ensure high traceability and usability of company assets through effective management of contract manufacturer teams.
  • Drive efficiency in the equipment repair process to minimize downtime and repair turnaround time.
  • Ensure adequate on-site vendor support to sustain production.
  • Review capital equipment consumable expenditures by contract manufacturers and collaborate with Global Supply Management to reduce waste.
  • Oversee logistics and customs clearance to ensure timely equipment delivery.
  • Collaborate with new product teams to support product development initiatives.
  • Verify equipment demands and lead the business team to ensure proper tracking of deliveries.
  • Establish the overall project budget, compile budget requests, and generate a capitalization plan based on project schedules.
  • Manage quote procurement and purchase requests for program capital expenditure needs.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in overall goals, schedules, and architectural requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient understanding of financial principles.
  • Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and management abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing or test engineering.
