POSITION SUMMARY

The Capital Equipment Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the coordination of equipment needs between Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This role involves collaboration with new product and operational teams to facilitate product launches and ongoing activities. The Project Manager will assess the implications of cycle time adjustments and modify forecasts as necessary. They will confirm equipment requirements from OEMs and liaise with the business team to ensure timely ordering and tracking of equipment deliveries.

The Project Manager is responsible for developing the overall project budget, consolidating budget requests from OEM and Quality teams, and creating a capitalization plan aligned with project timelines. They will also monitor expenditures by project. A successful Capital Equipment Project Manager will coordinate with cross-functional partners to ensure that program equipment requirements are fulfilled. This role demands strong leadership skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, identify potential risks, devise solutions, reach consensus, and implement mitigations promptly. A comprehensive understanding of development and manufacturing processes is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage daily on-site activities to achieve program objectives, focusing on escalations, communication, and process alignment during engineering design and validation phases for new initiatives and production ramp-up.
  • Oversee the stewardship of company capital equipment deployed on-site.
  • Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Promote collaboration across engineering functions, operations, and vendor partners.
  • Establish and maintain project capital expenditure requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive status updates across various projects to executive management.
  • Ensure high traceability and usability of company assets through contract manufacturer teams.
  • Drive efficiency in equipment repair processes to minimize downtime and expedite turnaround times.
  • Ensure adequate on-site vendor support to meet production needs.
  • Review capital equipment consumable expenditures and collaborate with supply chain management to reduce waste.
  • Oversee logistics and customs clearance to ensure timely equipment delivery.
  • Collaborate with new product teams to support product development efforts.
  • Verify equipment demands and guide the business team to ensure timely tracking of deliveries.
  • Develop overall project budgets, compile budget requests, and create capitalization plans based on project timelines.
  • Manage procurement quotes and purchase requests for program capital expenditure needs.
  • Adapt swiftly to changes in overall goals, schedules, and architectural requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient understanding of financial principles.
  • Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and management capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing or test engineering.
