Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, electrical safety checks, and equipment repairs on biomedical equipment and systems.
- Provide in-service training to medical center staff on the correct operation of equipment.
- Keep test equipment calibrated and use diagnostic skills to perform basic test bench equipment repairs.
- Maintain inventories and equipment records on all electrical equipment within the medical center.
- Use materials, maintain records, and track work conditions to ensure accurate and necessary inventory levels of parts, materials, and tools.
- Perform daily rounds to ensure all equipment is performing to manufacturer's specifications.
- Respond to work orders and initiate repairs to the system and its components.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and perform periodic preventive maintenance on the system and its components.
- Help maintain records and drawings of the complete system and its repairs.
- Call in outside vendors for repairs when necessary and ensure all work done to the system meets medical center standards.
- Interpret regulatory standards and demonstrate current knowledge of local, state, and national standards/codes/regulations.
- Inspect, test, repair, and replace electrical and electronics circuits, equipment, and appliances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sectional drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturer's equipment bulletins or recalls.
- Prioritize, organize, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with members of the hospital team.
- Notify the Assistant Director of Engineering immediately of any deviations from the norm.
- Use independent judgment in meeting emergency situations.
- Assume On-Call responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
- Assume new incoming inspection projects responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
An Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering or 5 years of hands-on experience in biomedical or clinical equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair is required.
