Remote VP Controller Position

Job Details

This is a remote position based in the Phoenix, AZ or Dallas, TX areas with occasional travel involved. The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in public accounting. A CPA is required, and mortgage or financial services experience is necessary. The candidate must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and excellent listening, organizational, and time management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze financial information monthly and prepare variance analysis.
  • Manage the reconciliation process for the Accounting Department.
  • Manage internal & external audit requests.
  • Oversee monthly hedging and IRLC calculations, journal entries, and analysis.
  • Manage monthly MSR valuation accounting and analysis.
  • Set up various processes for the department and assist with projects.
  • Implement new accounting guidance and take lead on technical accounting documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of all financial statements and all external financial reporting requirements.
  • Effectively develop and manage team members.
  • Assist with projects as requested.
Requirements
  • 8 - 12 years accounting experience including a minimum of 3 years in public accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • Mortgage or financial services experience required - industry or client.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent listening, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and employees to create a positive and cooperative work environment.
  • Management experience required.
  • Experience with Accounting standard implementation and writing technical accounting memos.
