About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Lead to join our team at Blue Shield of California. As a key member of our Corporate Communications team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's reputation and messaging.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategic communications plans that support Blue Shield's priorities and goals. This will involve working closely with executive leadership and key stakeholders to design and execute communications campaigns that drive business results.

You will also be responsible for creating employee communications that provide clarity, confidence, and connection to our mission, strategy, and leadership team. This will include writing, editing, and disseminating messaging on issues or programs for use by all communications representatives in the company.

In addition, you will oversee, develop, and/or support corporate communications campaigns and strategies on corporate priorities. This will involve driving creative discussions and developing creative briefs and concepts to execute across a variety of media, including videos, webinar presentations, and events.

As a Strategic Communications Lead, you will be a key advisor to executive leadership and will be responsible for coaching and preparing executives for speaking engagements with internal and external audiences. You will also develop messaging to ensure we tell a consistent story and mentor other team members to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing team.

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Mastery level knowledge of job area
  • Deep knowledge of project management
  • Experience in strategic communications, including a demonstrated track record of providing advice and counsel to management
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills, executive presence, professionalism, and ability to influence C-level executives and build partnerships at all levels
  • Outstanding creative writing skills with ability to capture executive voice and simplify and elevate their content
  • Ability to think strategically and create strategic and implementation plans that drive results
  • Experience in both internal and external communications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Pay Range: $ to $ for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Due to the current public health emergency in California, Blue Shield employees are almost all working remotely. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
