The Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance Directors at Lifespan and collaborating with various stakeholders in the organization. This position focuses on financial operations, reporting, analysis, and special projects to enhance the financial health of the institution.


Key Responsibilities:
Conducts thorough analysis of financial and statistical data to ensure accuracy and relevance in reporting.
Identifies and resolves discrepancies or variances as necessary.
Assists in the formulation of annual revenue and expense budgets, providing detailed monthly budget versus actual expense reports and analyses for various accounts, grant projects, and designated funds.
Updates monthly financial statements for healthcare providers and aligns incentive payments accordingly.

Monitors inpatient discharges to ensure proper billing and collections, aiding management in developing tools for charge capture, review, and revenue reconciliation.

Prepares a variety of standard and custom reports that include critical volume, cost, and profitability metrics. Engages in special analyses and projects as required, interpreting and clarifying financial and statistical data generated.

Provider Service Contracts Coordination:
Manages the process of provider service contracts, including finalizing new contracts and memorandums of understanding (MOUs), tracking invoices and billing with finance, and processing payments to providers.

Supports the preparation of financial and clinical data analyses for administrative and clinical leadership, as well as other managers within the organization.

Oversees vendor contracts, ensuring the accuracy of vendor invoices and conducting further research and analysis as needed.
Extracts data from hospital decision support systems and other sources to build and maintain departmental databases.
Contributes to the development of presentation materials, consolidating information into graphs, charts, tables, and PowerPoint slides tailored to the audience and purpose.

Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, healthcare administration, or a related discipline is required. A solid understanding of healthcare finance and hospital financial systems is essential.

Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is necessary. The ability to download and integrate information from various sources is also important. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required for effective interaction with all levels of management, staff, and healthcare professionals. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and utilize resources efficiently.


Preferred Experience:
Experience in a healthcare finance environment with a focus on financial and quantitative analysis is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
