Job Overview

At EBCO General Contractor, LTD., our interns gain invaluable experience by working closely with a Superintendent and, at times, an Assistant Superintendent. This role allows the intern to develop practical jobsite skills with increasing responsibilities to successfully contribute to project completion. Under careful guidance, interns learn to take on leadership roles at the construction site, achieve profit objectives, uphold safety standards, exceed client expectations, and foster a positive company reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management: Familiarize yourself with project contracts, documents, plans, specifications, and purchase orders. Under the Superintendent's guidance, identify, measure, and report changes to the Project Manager, ensuring all subcontractors are aware of company policies.
  • Scheduling: Collaborate with the Superintendent and Project Manager to create the project schedule, coordinating all trades concerning the schedule while considering personnel, equipment, and materials. Assist in verifying material and resource needs to ensure smooth workflow and manage critical path activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct daily quality control checks and review work to ensure it meets acceptable standards. Utilize quality control measures and the punch system effectively.
  • Safety Compliance: Work alongside the Superintendent to uphold OSHA standards on-site, ensuring the project remains orderly, clean, secure, and professional. Actively participate in safety meetings and implement safety programs.
  • Customer Engagement: Strive to exceed customer satisfaction consistently.

  • Is currently enrolled in a Construction Management or Engineering program at a college or university and aspires to build a career in commercial construction.

  • Possesses a foundational understanding of building concepts, codes, regulations, and best practices.

  • Demonstrates leadership potential and can motivate subcontractors to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Has solid mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Can perform tasks with some supervision.
  • Shows a strong eagerness to learn.
  • Is willing to travel and work independently in a non-traditional office setting.
  • Can work outdoors and adapt to varying weather conditions.
