Position Overview

Role Summary

The Grants Management Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio of public and private funding awards for the Resourceful Communities Program (RCP). This role entails managing a significant award from the State of North Carolina, along with subawards to partner organizations.

In this capacity, the Specialist will design and implement new procedures for the oversight and administration of approximately 120 subawards annually, sourced from diverse funding streams. While the primary focus will be on the State of North Carolina award and its subawards, the Specialist will also support the management of previously awarded and future grants from state, local, and private entities.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, the individual must successfully perform the following essential duties:

1. Serve as the subject-matter expert on the State of North Carolina requirements related to the RCP's Food Hub initiative.
2. Collaborate closely with the RCP team to ensure that all grants align with programmatic goals and are administered efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations.
3. Draft subawards for distribution to partner organizations and develop a tracking system for state agency approvals and subrecipient payments.
4. Implement TCF protocols for screening grant subrecipients and monitoring compliance with grant terms.
5. Oversee the submission of invoices to funders and ensure accurate payment processing in coordination with the Finance team.
6. Maintain comprehensive and auditable grant files to support the annual single audit process.
7. Provide training and develop internal documentation to assist staff in managing government funding responsibilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, accompanied by three years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in government award management.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to the mission and values of The Conservation Fund.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and relevant grants administration certifications are preferred. Familiarity with North Carolina government systems and prior experience with SharePoint are also advantageous.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based, with an estimated travel requirement of up to 5% for monitoring partner activities and attending meetings.
