Job Summary:
Nexstar Media Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technology and Engineering to lead our Engineering Department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the department, including staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Engineering Department, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership to develop and implement new technologies and technical infrastructure.
- Manage a large staff of Engineering technicians and information technology staff.
- Assign projects to staff and verify deadlines are being met.
- Work with corporate leadership to manage engineering and facility capital projects.
- Manage facility operations and security staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- A minimum of five years' experience working as an engineer at a broadcast facility, with a minimum of three years' experience in a leadership/management role.
- A successful record of employee development and mentorship.
- Experience establishing long-range goals and objectives.
- Proficiency with common office equipment and software.
- Experience with remote broadcast productions, studio operations, and equipment.
- Experience with broadcast transmitters, microwave equipment, and applicable FCC rules and regulations.
- Significant experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing, and maintaining broadcast equipment and information technology systems.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and respond to issues 24/7.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills, a can-do attitude, and be able to solve problems creatively under pressure.
