Director, Cloud Engineering (AWS)

Salary: $190k - $208k + 27 - 30% Bonus

Location: Chicago, IL

Work Arrangement: Hybrid 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Engineering Director to lead our team in designing and developing database architectures on AWS. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing 8 people and overseeing the implementation of Kubernetes, Container, and automation to incorporate applications into the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of cloud engineers in designing and developing database architectures on AWS
  • Oversee the implementation of Kubernetes, Container, and automation to incorporate applications into the cloud
  • Manage a team of 8 people and provide technical guidance and support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services
  • Develop and implement cloud strategies to drive business growth and innovation

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading and managing cloud engineering teams
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering with an understanding of large-scale computing solutions (Primarily AWS)
  • Basic understanding of operating systems, including Linux
  • Deep understanding of AWS services
  • Functional understanding of containers, container management, and container orchestration, including Kubernetes
  • Basic understanding of good delivery practices and continual integration and improvement
  • Agile/Lean background for projects and project delivery
  • Strong understanding of automation, automation principles, and different aspects of pipelines and automation delivery

Education: Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and three years of relevant experience

Certifications: AWS Solution Architect Associate (Required)
