Position Overview

The Graduate Admissions Program Coordinator will spearhead, organize, and engage in initiatives, events, and programs aimed at enhancing the visibility of the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) graduate offerings. Under the guidance of departmental leadership and the Dean, this role will act as the primary liaison for prospective graduate students, fostering strong connections and delivering outstanding service to ensure a positive experience with SET graduate programs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and implements recruitment strategies for SET graduate programs.
  • Represents SET at college fairs, recruitment events, and conferences, engaging with potential graduate students.
  • Collaborates with prospective partners to develop recruitment initiatives that strengthen relationships and enhance the university's brand.
  • Maintains a comprehensive database of industry contacts to facilitate ongoing engagement with local businesses.
  • Coordinates campus visits and information sessions for prospective students in partnership with SET Graduate Program Directors.
  • Promotes dual degree opportunities to current undergraduate students interested in advancing their education.
  • Utilizes the online application and admissions platform to monitor inquiries, applications, and enrollment statistics.
  • Assists in evaluating applications for admission, applying analytical skills to assess qualifications.
  • Stays informed about campus resources available to graduate students.
  • Conducts informational interviews with prospective students and their families, providing detailed insights into admission criteria, academic programs, and student life.
  • Engages in ongoing assessment of recruitment program effectiveness and progress towards strategic objectives.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; a background in STEM is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in college admissions and recruitment, particularly focused on graduate students; 5-7 years is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders in the college admissions process, including parents and educational organizations.
  • Active involvement in professional associations related to college admissions and higher education.
  • Must pass a thorough background check.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and necessary insurance; reliable transportation is required for business purposes.
  • Availability to work extended hours or weekends during peak recruitment periods and for special events.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences in both online and in-person settings.
  • Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills to promote the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with virtual meeting tools and CRM software is advantageous.
  • Commitment to understanding the university's mission of educational excellence and diversity.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on public relations and customer service.
  • High ethical standards and confidentiality; adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to coordinate various projects efficiently.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment and on campus. Mobility across the campus is necessary for daily operations.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively in person and via phone.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Specific vision capabilities are necessary for close and distance tasks.
