The City of Chesapeake seeks a skilled Data Control Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for processing records and entering data into computer systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify information and enter data into computer systems
  • Process documents and retrieve information from computer systems
  • Prepare routine and special reports, forms, and other documents
  • Assist in the production of quarterly and summary reports
  • Monitor computer systems operation and report malfunctions
  • Perform office functions such as mail processing, records maintenance, and administrative tasks
  • Assist customers, clients, and staff to resolve problems

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and one year of college education in office technology or a related field
  • One year of related, full-time equivalent experience
  • Special skills or equipment certification may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing automated systems to manage customer information
  • Experience distributing daily work assignments to staff
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong customer service experience

Work Environment:

The Data Control Technician II will work in a fast-paced office environment and may be required to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
