Job Overview:

The Water Resource Manager will be tasked with the stewardship, preservation, and sustainable management of water resources. This position involves crafting and executing strategies to guarantee the effective distribution and utilization of water while complying with regulatory standards and addressing ecological issues. A comprehensive understanding of water management concepts, legal frameworks, and the ability to collaborate with governmental bodies as well as private and public entities is essential. Familiarity with the northern Colorado water market and the maintenance of business relationships within this domain is crucial.

  • Water Storage Delivery Notifications
  • Leak Testing and Reclamation Processes
  • Area Capacity Assessments
  • ALTAs and Related Closing Documentation

Portfolio Administration:

  • Management of External and Internal Water Leases
  • Optimization of Share Utilization and Value
  • Proactive Identification of Acquisition Opportunities and Market Valuation
  • Evaluations for Divestment/Monetization: Water and Water Storage
  • Marketing Strategies for Water Assets

Project Management:

  • Identify opportunities within our unique land holdings
  • Water Storage – Internal utilization and optimization considerations
  • Logistical optimization of our existing portfolio (e.g., easement or land acquisitions, inlet/outlet works, ditch enhancements, pumps, etc.)
  • Solicit bids, manage contracts, and oversee internal field projects related to water infrastructure.

Legal and Engineering Oversight:

  • Supervise Water Court Legal Representation
  • Oversee Water Resource Engineering Consultant
  • Monitor Cases Opposed by LGE
  • Manage LGE Water Court Proceedings

Operational Management:

  • Oversee water assets in relation to mining operations
  • SWSPs
  • Slurry Walls and Water Storage Management
  • Groundwater Monitoring in relation to mining sites

Networking:

  • Establish and maintain a network of leaders, landowners, and users in the water sector to enhance LGE's profitability.

Additional Duties:

Perform other responsibilities as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Colorado water legislation and the Northern Colorado Water Market.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and project engagements.
  • Ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships with government officials, employees, contractors, consultants, and the public.
  • Experience in conducting water resource research.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Law, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in water resources-related roles; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Conduct all duties in a well-ventilated, well-lit, and temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
