Survey Party Chief

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to lead our survey crew in Lake Charles, LA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the survey crew, ensuring accurate data collection, and reporting to our Survey Team Manager.

• Oversee the daily functions of the survey crew, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.
• Set up and complete survey crews on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor.
• Ensure proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager.
• Reduce survey data to the Org Manager, providing accurate and timely information.
• Interpret blueprints, plans, and deeds to effectively lead the survey crew.
• Operate all survey equipment, interpreting data to report information to the Org Manager.
• Understand and compute field calculations relative to survey data collected.
• Effectively manage the time and schedules of the survey crew.

• Five (5) years of verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to read and comprehend measurements.
• Intermediate math skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to travel and stay overnight based on the work load of the Survey Department.

• Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb on a ladder.
• Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
