Job Title: Behavioral Support Technician

Join Educational Service District 112 as a Behavioral Support Technician and play a vital role in supporting students with developmental delays and intellectual disabilities. As a member of our dynamic team, you will work closely with teachers and Registered Behavior Technicians to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to assist in classroom management and positive behavior management. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher to engage students with high intensity support needs and extremely significant behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to students in functional skill domains, including communication, self-care, social skills, community use, leisure, and work.
  • Contribute to and cooperate with the classroom instructional team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collect and record data on student performance and contribute to the development of students' Behavior Support Plans.
  • Manage student behaviors by adhering to the Behavior Support Plan and utilizing principles of de-escalation.
  • Take action to seclude or restrain students who are at risk of harming themselves or others, following district-approved procedures.
  • Follow guidelines for the use of the least intrusive intervention and best practices consistent with students' needs and disabilities.
  • Build students' ability to communicate through consistent use of communication methods and implement them with fidelity as instructed by the speech/language pathologist and classroom teacher.
  • Provide for students' personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, tube feeding, catheterization, and diaper changing.
  • Support students on transportation and provide skills training consistent with IEP.
  • Perform health tasks and implement individualized protocols as delegated by the Registered Nurse and assigned by the classroom teacher.
Requirements:
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience engaging/working with school-aged children.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in a special education classroom setting and knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
Working Conditions:

This position is a day treatment program setting, requiring physical intervention to properly restrain students in compliance with Washington State WACs and Emergency Response protocol. Exposure to communicable diseases found in children and adolescents is also a possibility.
