Staff Accountant General Ledger Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to provide support with the month-end close process, focusing on general ledger work, paper analyses, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform all tasks in accordance with applicable GAAP, Gaming Control Board, Federal and other laws and gaming regulations, as well as SAHARA Las Vegas policies and procedures.
• Participate in all activities related to the monthly close process, including accurate and timely preparation of journal entries (supported by well-documented reconciliations), and the timely research/resolution of various business matters that have accounting implications.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis on a monthly basis.
• Analyze information by developing spreadsheet reports.
• Assist the accounting management as needed to complete ad-hoc projects, month-end and year-end reports.
• Assist in coordinating internal and external audit requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• Three (3) years' experience in accounting or a similar field.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal forms.
• A professional demeanor and attire is to be maintained at all times.
• Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
• Must be able to perform in a team environment.
• Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of staff and leadership.
• Previous experience in a high-end luxury Gaming or Hospitality environment is desired.
• Previous experience with Infinium, Stratton Warran and Opera.
• Must have exceptional time management skills.
• An intermediate to proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is preferred.
• Proven ability to resolve guest conflicts with ease or determine if management is needed in certain guest situations.
• Must be 21 years of age or older
