Position Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Medical Respite Support Specialist to join our team at the Stacy Kirkpatrick House (SKH), a 20-bed medical respite facility in Boston. This role involves working evening hours and providing essential clinical support services to our patients while assisting the team of registered nurses (RNs).
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and self-driven individual who aligns with the mission of BHCHP and is dedicated to delivering high-quality clinical care through a harm reduction approach in a medical respite setting.
Work Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours per week; 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, including weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care to patients while maintaining confidentiality, rights, and dignity.
- Collaborate with the team RN to prioritize tasks and communicate the status of patient care.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the team RN to ensure effective patient care.
- Assist RNs during complex treatments and procedures, including preparation and setup.
- Accurately collect patient data, such as vital signs and reason for visits, and report abnormalities.
- Conduct basic patient testing, including urine dip and glucose finger stick.
- Support patients with personal hygiene and assist with mobility as needed.
- Provide personal care and support for patients requiring end-of-life care.
- Escort patients to off-site appointments when necessary and manage medical supplies.
- Maintain inventory and order clinic supplies to prevent shortages.
- Keep accurate logs and records as per standards.
Qualifications:
- EMT Certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- At least 2 years of experience as an EMT or paramedic is strongly preferred.
- Strong assessment and communication skills.
- Understanding of substance use disorders and behavioral health issues.
- Experience working with underserved populations is a plus.
- Knowledge of the effects and management of sedating medications and polysubstance use.
- Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.

- Hourly compensation of $31.11.
