Job Summary: The Family Support program at Bay Cove Human Services aims to empower families to meet the needs of their loved ones with disabilities. As a Family Support DDS Respite Specialist, you will provide in-home support to families, ensuring they receive the resources and assistance they need to thrive. Your role will involve engaging in program activities that foster growth, addressing treatment plan goals, and teaching daily living skills to individuals with disabilities. You will also provide family respite through various activities or community involvement, promoting teamwork, cooperation, and community integration. This is a non-exempt position that requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to respecting the dignity and value of all individuals.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage in program activities that foster growth and address treatment plan goals
  • Teach daily living skills, including safety training, travel training, banking, cooking, shopping, budgeting, hygiene, and care of personal space and belongings
  • Provide family respite through various activities or community involvement
  • Support individuals and families around daily, personal, and social issues
  • Maintain programmatic documentation in accordance with Bay Cove standards
  • Communicate with case supervisors on a weekly basis
  • Attend agency meetings as needed
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with others in a manner that promotes teamwork, cooperation, and community integration
  • Demonstrated understanding of the physical, social, emotional, and educational needs of adults and children with disabilities
